Library Program : Trompe l'oeil Painting

Join artist Mary Sue Weeks for an exploration of the unique painting style known as Trompe L'oeil.

Trompe L’oeil is an artistic term for the highly realistic optical illusion of three-dimensional space and objects on a two-dimensional surface. Mary Sue will cover thedefinition of trompe l’oeil and what makes it unique, as well as a little bit of history starting with frescoes in Pompeii, through works of the Renaissance and into modern paintings. Pictures of trompe l’oeil from around the world and close to home will be included.
