Broad Cove Learning POD The Bremen library is the venue for the ‘Broad Cove Learning Pod’, which includes 13 students in the 6, 7 and 8th grades. Yvonne Gloede, the library director, and the board of trustees invited the group to rent the upstairs meeting room, which is partitioned off from the main library space and the main meeting room. We are glad to be following our mission:The Bremen Library provides a welcoming placeto encourage lifelong learning, to advance knowledge, and to strengthen our communityThe students meet Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 8:00 until 2:00. The room rental agreement contract includes the Maine Centers for Disease Control guidelines for safe practices for schools during the pandemic. The large, bright open meeting space is accessed by a separate door and stairwell and is well suited for the ‘learning pod’. The Bremen Library is grateful for the vision of Elizabeth Noyce, who spearheaded both the building of our 1974 library building with the upstairs meeting room and the 1994 main meeting room addition. Now in 2020 libraries are becoming community hubs. We are thrilled to be able to accommodate these local students. Yvonne Gloede is getting to know the students and their interests in books and is happy that these middle schoolers are taking advantage of everything the library has to offer them.
